We Take Metrorail to to Watts Jazz Festival
Watts Towers
This field trip was an experiment. Would MC101 students turn out on a Sunday to ride L.A.'s fledgling light rail system to the Watts Towers, site of an annual jazz festival?

Why yes, they would. We had a nice turnout.

Los Angeles is developing a clean, comfortable light rail system, but middle-class people from the outlying areas tend to not ride it. So it was a little unnatural for car-bound MC101 students to ride the train, but these did.
The Train
3 at Towers
Once at the site of the historic Watts Towers, some of us took a guided tour.
Drum Line
This drum line was outstanding
Antonio  Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was at this event. He did not comment on what the presence of MC101 students meant for the future of the city.
Food at the Towers
The festival also featured a food court, so no one went hungry.
  Watching Entertainment
Oh yes, and the jazz was pretty good too.
